Weird!

So I went to the barn early this morning to beat the heat. We had a record setting 90 degree day...for us in the Pacific Northwest...that is hot! Maddy is sweating before we even do anything. We get into the arena and I play some games and get her feet moving. I get on and we ride around for a bit and I am thinking, "Man, she is so relaxed, look how low her neck is....OH MY GOSH! She was going down to roll! She is on her knees and I hop off. She got down and it was like she remembered her saddle was on and she just looked at me and I said "What are you doing?" She gave a big sigh and stood up. I didn't really know what else to do, so I just hopped back on. So the lesson for today.....Relaxed is good, but not TOO relaxed. We had a pretty good ride after that.

Hi there,

I guess, I left a duplicate comment, easlier in the day.

Sorry for the same. You may go ahead and delete it.

Lol, I had that happening to me once, but it was NOT an enjoyable experience. The stallion did not give me any forewarning, he just scraped his hoof in the ground and all of a sudden, he was down and about to roll - which he did, saddle and all. Maddie at least took the time to look at you and realize that "hey, maybe this isn't right after all?" You don't think anybody has been telling her lately "If it feels good, do it"?

Keep blogging! 'We likes it!'

Arthist99---Moving to Oregon was one of the best descisions I have ever made. I love it here. Anytime you want to come visit, let me know. I love to show of this part of the world. We have desert, mountains, the ocean, the fabulous Columbia River, a city full of green spaces and just beautiful flowers and plants everywhere. Best of all Clackamas County has the highest per capita of horses in the country. I think that is pretty cool.

Ishtar---I am not sure if it was enjoyable for me either:-) In fact, my first thought was "ok, this is how I die." Is just happened so fast, and I wasn't sure if I should be mad, or scared, so I just laughed at her and just got back on. The funny part was just the look on her face, she looked just perplexed like "what I am doing??" Crazy girl.

LOL I've had this happen on more than one occassion but mine are all trained for voice commands and totally get the meaning of "DON"T" has saved my you know what a couple of times.

90 is too darned hot for me. I got up early and got my horses all worked before noon and the heat then about killed me. I'd like a little spring before we hit the July weather thank you very much!

I saw this happen once on a trail ride where we had rented horses and people with no experience. I know that it was scary and could have possibly been dangerous and I believe I was mortified at the time, but in retrospect, all i can do is giggle. (and i'm having a problem with blogger which is why i'm not posting as my normal learninghorses self)
