A friend of mine invited me out on a trail ride in Willamette Mission State Park. There are amazing trails that run along the Willamette River and next to beautiful walnut and filbert orchards. I got to ride a very sweet Mustang named "Dakota." He is a tiny guy, maybe 14 hands but he sure had lots of get up and go. He had the smoothest trot and a soft, rolling canter.
He really was a joy to ride. My friend Richard rode his horse "Doc." We rode for about 2 hours, encountering many other riders along the way. It was a gorgeous day here in Oregon and it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.

Wow! That looks heavenly! I can't wait for our first trailride! :D
Looks like a lot of fun!!!! Thanks for checking with your dad. Regardless of whether I have a horse or not...I would LOVE to go up there and meet with him. I have NEVER been on the backside of a track...but I would love too.
THANKS!

That is a splendid-looking animal and he looks good size to me with your sitting on him. I like these kinds of photos and on nice days they are very nice days when with a horse or a dog.
You know nothing is going to get me over here quicker than mention of a mustang, lol!
Hey...what are you doing the second weekend in Nov? There's a Kiger adoption over in Burns... :)
I guess trailering over from S.C. to ride with you is not an option....
Looks like so very much fun! So glad you got to get out and go for a great ride.
Blog tag...you're it! Check out my blog for details! :D
Wow, that looks like such fun. I'm glad you had a horse you could borrow so you could go.
I don't get to trail ride nearly often enough. I such a chicken about getting lost, I have to have someone who knows where they are for sure to even consider going.
What a great way to spend the day.
Beautiful country !
It sounds like you had a great time. How nice you could borrow a horse to enjoy the fall weather.
I am really wishing I had a horse for a trail ride. You look so happy! I have been enjoying the wonderful Oregon weather lately and can't imagine a better time for a ride in the woods.
