More Snow

On Tuesday I woke up to snow on the valley floor in Portland. If falls in the city, you know in the higher elevations they got a lot more. The roads seemed fine, so I headed to the barn. Beautiful big flakes were falling and there was a nice blanket. We switched farriers at the barn, so I really had to go. I prefer to hold her for the vet and farrier because I like to see how she does with different people. I also see what needs to be worked on. We have been plugging away on our dressage lessons every Wednesday and when it has been nice, been going out on the trails. I putting my trailer shopping on hold...I had a bad experience yesterday off a Craigslist ad that kind of soured me towards the whole thing. Lets just say the ad was not accurate and the going to see it was like walking onto the set of "Deliverance." The other Triton was very nice, but I feel a bit overwhelmed about it all, so just taking a break. I think my stress level would go down if I bought the truck first and didn't have anxiety about delivery and the ability to take it for an inspection. Anyway, the snow was lovely and a nice distraction from trailer shopping. It is strange how that white stuff creates a stillness around you and your senses become acute. It seems almost primal as you stand far away and can hear your horse raise it's head or take a step in the snow.

I love the peacefulness and quiet a snowfall brings. Even so, I'm still wishing for spring, I' tired of being cold and wet.

Awe...I wondered if you got overwhelmed somewhat with it all last weekend. Well, there are plenty of deals to be had and plenty of time dear!
I love all your pics of Maddy mare!

It is stressful to think about sinking your money into a trailer. It certainly would help to know that the trailer is safe; that it is not over priced; and that it will be the one to do the best job for you. I agree with you about getting a smaller one if it will do the job and i really like the trailer in the photos. Looks clean and easy to use. Good luck.

"Deliverance"! Now that must have been a nightmare. I love fresh snow; it seems miraculous somehow. Too perfect and clean for this old earth. But then it turns to mush so...

Dont fret about the trailer. There are many like allhorsestuff said. Unfortunately this economy has put many in financial stress. Trailers can be bought at 50% of there market value and some in great condition.

Always inspect with someone who knows before you cash out. Always. Never leave a deposit to hold and never send money online to someone to hold it..

NEVER!

Trailer fraud is huge and needs to be approached with care and caution.

Maddy looks so cozy in her blanket. Pretty shots with the snow. As much as I get tired of snow here in MN, it does make everything look so pretty in the wintertime. Most of it has melted (yes, already!) here so its looking spartan and ugly while we wait for spring.

This winter has been so schizophrenic in the Bay Area. We went from the 70+ weather last weekend I blogged about to snowing today! But so far nothing is sticking. All the horses were still wearing their blankets when I got to the barn today at about 2:30, California horses are so spoiled.

I love the peace of snowfall too. It's the icy roads that go with it that bother me.

Hi,

I am trailer shopping too and can totally understand your frustration. I too have been blogging to document the progress with the QH mare I bought last spring. Nice blog.
