Life is Good

Kasey and I have been hitting the trails hard. We went out Saturday and Sunday to two different parks. I had a little trouble with trailer loading on Saturday, but today, she walked right in. I think things are really progressing nicely with Maddy's trail experiences. I am just trying to build on one positive experience after the other. Kasey is willing to "school" along the way if something comes up and we both enjoy a leisurely pace with bouts of trotting and cantering on long stretches. It is so nice to finally have someone who enjoys riding the same way I do. I have come to realize that these excursions take a lot of organization. I am working on getting the right tack, including better fitting boots. Currently I have two sets of Boa Boots, but the fronts are a little big, so I am working on getting a pair of Easy Boot Epics. I really like how those fit. The Boas seem a little clunky, although I do like how easy they are to put on and take off. Also, have to buy a hay bag and cantle pack...so much to think about! But I could not be happier. Things are progressing with Maddy and I had a new horse bud who I really enjoy hanging with. In this photo, Kasey is riding "Pantz." Her cute Appaloosa.

Sounds like you had a great ride! I am happy you found a new boarder that likes to trail ride as much as you do. It is very helpful to have people who understand that stopping to school and work out issues on the trail is important! Also, even when we are just riding for a couple of hours on fairly well-populated trails, I always try to be well-prepared. I at least bring water, a power bar, phone, an extra jacket, knife, vet-rap, hoof pick, etc. I want to add more emergency items to my cantle bag and just leave them there, no matter how short of a trail ride we are on.

I dont know these things because I am ring baby!!!

Maddy has shoes on her front feet, but since her fracture, I feel a little extra protection with the boots on. I am probably the only person on the planet that puts on front boots with shoes. I just breathe a little easier:-)

Thanks for your visit to my blog Brookville Daily Photo this morning. I hope you enjoyed my post today showing the honey bee and the hollyhock flower.

I saw a special last night about the disappearance of honey bees and it is sad to think that most of the fruit, nuts and vegetables we eat would disappear with them. So governments are busy trying to find the culprit before it is too late and one huge problem is the use of insecticides.

African bees have been imported in an effort to keep the supply of fruit, nuts and vegetables going or we will have to live without them. The program was interesting but the solutions are enormous.

Anyway, I wanted you to know I was here to repay your visit and comment with one of my own. Kind of like "Kilroy" was here...remember those drawings everyone used to make?

I enjoyed reading your blog post for today and I thought the photography was good too. I don't know much about Boa Boots?

Sounds like you found a great couple of riding partners, both equine and human!
